Delete your account

From inside the app

If you still have the app installed, this is the fastest route: Settings → Account → Delete Account. It works the same on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux, and it takes effect straight away.

If you have already uninstalled the app, or you would rather not sign in again, send us the request and a person will action it. Include the email address on the account so we can verify the request actually comes from you. We will confirm from that address before deleting anything, and we will email you again when it is done.

What gets deleted

• Your account, sign-in credentials and settings.
• Your saved places.
• Your device registrations and push notification tokens.
• Your stored last location, which is one reading, because we never keep more than one.
• Your alert preferences and delivery records.

What we have to keep

Donation and accounting records, for the period tax and nonprofit recordkeeping law requires, unlinked from your account. We may also keep the minimum needed to comply with a legal obligation or to enforce a suspension for abuse. Copies can persist in encrypted backups until those rotate out. Section 10 of the Privacy Policy sets out every window.

Things that are not account deletion

Uninstalling the app stops push notifications but leaves the account standing. Turning off location permission stops new readings and clears the stored one, but keeps your saved places and alerts working. Unsubscribing from alert emails does exactly that and nothing more. Any of those may be what you actually want, and none of them require deleting the account.
